Ice Skating
The Dover Park and Recreation Department allows skating on Channing Pond when the ice is at or above 4 inches thick (please see the state guidelines https://www.mass.gov/info-details/ice-strength-and-safety ).
For winter break, the pond lights are set to shut off in stages beginning at 9:00 PM. The first light pole will turn off at 9:00 PM, the second at 9:05 PM, and the last at 9:10 PM. This staggered timing is intended to give skaters a heads-up and allow them to leave the ice and reach their cars safely.
