Volunteer on a Board or Committee

All boards, commissions, and committees consist of citizens who contribute their time for the benefit of the Town of Dover. These committees work toward solving complex issues and recommending policy that helps to shape the kind of community in which we live. We are fortunate to have many volunteers whose knowledge and skills can be applied to our Town Government.

The boards, commissions, and committees contained in this section have been created through the town by-laws (Town Code). Temporary committees may be created for a specific period of time or for a specific purpose by the Board of Selectmen or Town Administrator or one or more of the permanent committees.

There are often various opportunities available. Terms of office vary from one to five years. Membership on some committees requires particular expertise, which is described on each committee's page. Some committees have associate, non-voting members as well as full members. On those committees, vacancies on the full committee are typically filled from the pool of associates.
