The Planning Board is sponsoring an update of the Town's existing 1986 Accessory Apartments Bylaw. Key changes include streamlining the existing three-board process (Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals, and Board of Health) to Site Plan & Architectural Design Review at the Planning Board, with Board of Health approval for septic/well permits prior to the issuance of a building permit. Originally up for consideration for Spring Town Meeting on May 1, 2021, the bylaw was delayed due to a technological issue with the remote Zoning Hearing, a required part of the Town Meeting Process, causing the legal notice for the Zoning Hearing to be defective and the article to be withdrawn. While this is a setback, it allows more time to run public process and solicit feedback on the bylaw for it to be heard at the next available Town Meeting.
