BANNER POLICY

The Blue Banner was torn beyond repair from heavy winds. Currently the only sign we can offer for use is the Sandwich board. Please complete the form provided below if you would like to use the sandwich board in place of the blue banner.

* We are preparing to make a significant policy change on banners. Several ideas are currently being discussed to construct a new banner board in town. We would like to make everyone aware that changes may take place in the near future so you understand the possibility of a policy change that would not allow your own banners that you had made to be used. If a change such as this occurs you will be notified accordingly. *

Anyone wishing to schedule a banner must stop by the Dover Park & Recreation office or download a form first, no exceptions. Additionally, all banners hung on the Town Common must adhere to these rules:

Regulations for Signs on Dover Town Common:

The Park & Recreation Commission has complete jurisdiction over the placement of signs on the Dover Town Common.  To have your sign approved by the Park & Recreation Department the following criteria must be met:

  1. The Organization or group must be affiliated with the Town of Dover.
  2. The Organization or group must be governmental, non-profit or conducting a fundraiser for such groups.
  3. The Organization or group must apply for available space either via telephone or in person.  Approval is on a first come, first serve basis.
  4. Signs must be of a professional quality, no homemade signs.  Signs are not to exceed (14) feet in length.  The Park & Recreation Department and the Dover Town Library have changeable-banner signs for use by organizations.
  5. Signs may only be displayed (10) days in advance of an event unless space is available.  Under no circumstances will a sign appear for more than (2) weeks.
  6. Organizations or groups must hang their own signs.  All signs must be secured with bungee cords, not string or rope and centered.
  7. You must take your sign down immediately according to your permit dates.
  8. No More than (4) signs will be on display at any time.
  9. Any signs hung without the approval of the Park & Recreation Office will be taken down immediately.
  10. Signs in disrepair will be removed by the Park & Recreation Office.
  11. Park & Recreation is not responsible for lost, damaged or stolen signs.
